Walter Nolen, the nation’s No. 1 college football recruit, has named his three finalists and all are from the SEC.

The No. 1 recruit in the nation is down to his three schools.

Walter Nolen released his three finalists on Tuesday night and there was a newcomer from his previous top five.

Nolen has Georgia, Tennessee and Texas A&M among his finalists.

Georgia and Tennessee were previously in his top five that also included Alabama, Michigan and Florida. Texas A&M is the newcomer and making up ground after visiting over the summer.

Nolen, a 6-foot-4, 325-pound defensive tackle hails from Howell high school in Howell, Tennessee after beginning his high school career in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

While Alabama has been dropped from his top three finalists, Nolen’s father told 247Sports that plans are still in place to visit Alabama for the game vs. LSU. He did admit he’s unsure if Alabama will still want him to visit after revealing his top-three. It’s a safe bet, Alabama isn’t going to stop recruiting him because he didn’t make his top-three in late August. In fact, it just means Alabama will recruit him even harder, especially to keep him away from Georgia.

And while Nolen did give his finalists, he tweeted he’s still wide open in his recruitment. All to say, you can expect a circus with Nolen’s recruitment all the way to National Signing Day in late December.

Whoever gets his commitment is going to get a certifiable stud who should be playing right away as a freshman and projects to be a future NFL player.

Tennessee has the in-state appeal while Texas A&M has the foundation for a great defense and Georgia has recruited as well as any school over the last few years. All three SEC schools would love to have Nolen, but Georgia should feel the most confident among the trio of finalists, for now.

Michigan and Florida may be out of the running but Alabama shouldn’t be dismissed just yet even if he didn’t make the top three. You can never count Nick Saban out in a recruiting race for a player he wants.
