Cristiano Ronaldo is heading back to Manchester United

Ronaldo has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, but Manchester United wasn’t involved at the start. The first rumors revolved around the possibility of him returning to Real Madrid. Soon enough, Manchester City got heavily involved.

In a surprise twist, United swooped in to prevent their former star from bolstering their rivals. City reportedly pulled out of the race.

While he started his career at Sporting CP, Ronaldo made his name at Manchester United from 2003 to 2009. He scored 84 goals in 196 appearances while helping the Red Devils secure Premier League titles in 2007, 2008 and 2009. He also won the Champions League for Manchester while raking in individual honors.

Ronaldo departed for Real Madrid after the 2009 season and found even more club and individual success. He grabbed four more Champions League winners medals and scored 311 goals in 292 appearances. He left the club in 2018 to join Juventus.

The question now is what kind of impact the 36-year-old can have back in the Premier League after all these years. Manchester United are hoping to push for a title and Ronaldo’s scoring prowess could make a huge difference in their pursuit. Fitting him into the current team will be the tricky part.
