Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley live round by round play-by-play
Follow along with FanSided for live play-by-play of the Aug. 29 Showtime pay-per-view main event between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley.
At 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 29, Showtime pay-per-view coverage of the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley fight card kicks off.
Paul (3-0, 3 KOs) returns to his birthplace and childhood home of Cleveland, OH, to try and make a statement at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The 24-year-old enjoys much fandom and popularity because of his YouTube fame and highlight-reel knockouts, but the Woodley poses a legitimate threat to Paul’s budding boxing carer.
Paul is no stranger to fighting MMA fighters inside of a boxing ring. He stopped Ben Askren in round 1 in April. Askren had a solid MMA career but was always limited as a striker. Woodley has a wrestling background but has some impressive KOs of his own.
Askren came into his fight with Paul in terrible shape. The 39-year-old Woodley isn’t making that same mistake. He weighed in at a fit 189.5 pounds and looks lean and cut. His physical fitness isn’t in question.
Paul has a way of angering his opponents before fights but may have gone too far at the weigh-in with his threatening comments to Woodley. Woodley didn’t need any more reasons to want to beat up Paul. Earlier in the week, members of Paul’s team got into a war of words with Woodley’s mother.
This fight has been built up and hyped up, but Paul and Woodley soon step into the ring to throw hands. Follow along with FanSided for live round-by-round updates and highlights.
