What are the purses for Jake Paul, Tyron Woodley?

In the latest edition of celebrity and freakshow boxing fights, Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley are set to square off at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, OH.

While many boxing pundits will laugh this fight off or feel it’s a disgrace (and who can blame them?), there’s no denying that fights like these are money makers. That’s money makers in terms of gate, pay-per-view drawing power and pay for the fighters.

In fact, Woodley and his representatives at First Round Management have touted to the likes of ESPN and MMA Fighting that Woodley’s payday for this fight would be far better than anything he’s earned from the UFC, where he reigned as welterweight champion from late July 2016 to early March 2019.

But the question is, exactly how much money is that?

How much are Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley expected to take home for their fight?

The truth is, as of a couple of hours before fight time, no one knows the exact amount of money each fighter will earn, as those numbers haven’t been released Ohio Athletic Commission.

We do, however, have some estimates.

While Malki Kawa has stated that Woodley’s base is in the “millions,” Evening Standard reports that Woodley is expected to bank a minimum of $500,000. That would tie Woodley’s highest-earning base salary while in the UFC, when he successfully defended the welterweight title against Darren Till at UFC 228.

That fight saw Woodley earn a $50,000 post-fight bonus and a $40,000 fight week incentive pay.

There’s no word on what percentage Woodley would get of the pay-per-view buys he’d split with Paul.

Paul, meanwhile, is estimated to earn at least $1 million for the fight with Woodley, according to Evening Standard.

Paul has previously claimed to Mirror that he turned down a higher purse so that fighters on the undercard could be paid more.
