The Showtime broadcast crew called Dustin Poirier a UFC champion.

Ahead of the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley main event, numerous celebrities were shown inside the arena. One of the most notable ones was Dustin Poirier, the former UFC lightweight champion and a winner of the UFC 264 blockbuster against Conor McGregor.

While Showtime showing off MMA’s best is not uncommon, commentator Brian Custer made a brief error by calling Poirier the UFC lightweight champion.

Personally, with how big Poirier has gotten in the eyes of the MMA community, we’re okay with it. Poirier has been linked to Paul, as Paul personally sent him a “Sleepy McGregor” chain ahead of Poirier’s now-infamous win in July.

Check out the blunder from Showtime

While brief, the gaff from Showtime is already making the rounds on Twitter worldwide. Poirier seemed rather amused while on-camera.
