Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trent Taylor had the catch of the preseason, grabbing a tipped ball then dragging defenders to the goal line.

Trent Taylor was not messing around with his final preseason appearance.

The Bengals receiver made arguably the most exciting play of the entire preseason on Sunday with a heads-up highlight that turned into a feat of impressive strength.

Check it out:

Taylor would have gotten a tip of the cap for the catch alone. He was in the right place at the right time and tracked down the ball after it was tipped into the air.

From there, the former fifth-rounder did his best Incredible Hulk impression on the Dolphins defense. It definitely wasn’t a great moment for that defensive back getting carried down the field like that.

Trent Taylor’s highlight catch was the best of the preseason

You wouldn’t have guessed it from that video, but Taylor is all of 5-foot-8, 180 pounds. He played much bigger and stronger than that on Sunday, coming just short of crossing the goal line. Instead, Jacques Patrick punched in the touchdown on the next play.

This was Taylor’s big chance to make a lasting impression. He didn’t have a catch in the first preseason game against the Buccaneers and came away with one catch for three yards against Washington. He caught three passes for 59 yards against the Dolphins.

Taylor spent the first four seasons of his career with the 49ers. He caught 79 passes for 731 yards and three touchdowns across that stretch, minus a season-ending injury at the start of the 2019 season.

He ended up with the Bengals in free agency earlier this year and is hoping to work his way into the rotation. First, he has to make sure he makes the roster.
