Former AuburnĀ football starter Tyrone Truesdell isĀ transferring to Dan Mullenās FloridaĀ football program and is eligible to play immediately.
A strength for Dan Mullenās Florida football team has been augmented, as former Auburn football starter Tyrone Truesdell is joining the Gatorsā defensive line rotation.
Truesdell had played for Gus Malzahn at Auburn the four previous seasons. He is coming off a year where he had 22 combined tackles and 2.5 sacks in nine games for the Tigers. With Malzahn being terminated and Bryan Harsin taking over on The Plains, talented players like Truesdell tend to take advantage of the transfer portal. It may be a very late enrollment for him, but he is an SEC veteran.
āI know itās kind of a late start but being a veteran guy thatās started in the league I think heās going to adapt really quick,ā said Mullen on Truesdell joining the Gators right before the start of the season.
Florida hosts the Florida Atlantic Owls in Gainesville on Saturday night to kick off their season.
Florida football team adds former Auburn starter Tyrone Truesdell to DL
Even though the Gators won the SEC East a year ago, they are not expected to get back to Atlanta. Yes, they will have something to say about that when they take on Georgia over in Jacksonville around Halloween, but Florida did lose a ton of talent offensively to the 2021 NFL Draft. However, this defensive line rotation that now has Truesdell in the fold could be a major strength for them.
Simply put, you are not going to win big in the SEC if you cannot win in the trenches. Stockpiling great defensive ends and defensive tackles is a great way to mitigate what other contending teams like Georgia may want to do offensively. Florida still may not beat Georgia in Jacksonville, but adding a savvy SEC veteran like Truesdell to the roster will only help them make a game of it.
It may be super late into the offseason, but Florida made a fantastic pickup by getting Truesdell.
