Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster risked it all to do the crate challenge.

We are days away from Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season, and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster just did the crate challenge…

If this viral video does not make Kevin Colbert, Mike Tomlin and the entire Rooney Family sick to their stomaches, I do not know what to tell you. In what will be almost certainly Ben Roethlisberger’s last year in the NFL, we have video evidence of Smith-Schuster doing the crate challenge. If he was not a talent, this would have been a fireable offense.

It has always been noisy in Pittsburgh. Though the Steelers always finish above .500 under Tomlin’s watch, nonsense like this is why they have not been to a Super Bowl in a decade. While they are an extreme dark horse to get there this season, how do you expect to beat the creme de la creme in the AFC to get there when you cannot trust one of your star wide receivers to use his brain?

Again, this is the last year Big Ben will be under center in Pittsburgh. Once he retires, the Steelers will be heading into a bit of a rebuilding phase. Mason Rudolph is not the answer under center, and neither is Dwayne Haskins. While the Steelers might be lucky enough to draft someone good in the teens next spring, you can’t be this selfish when you are playing the Buffalo Bills in two weeks.

Smith-Schuster may have had spotters to complete the challenge, but why even attempt it?
