The LSU Tigers are traveling out west to face off with the UCLA Bruins at the historic Rose Bowl to open the 2021 season.

For the first time, the purple and gold of the LSU Tigers will take on the iconic powder blue of the UCLA Bruins.

The SEC vs. Pac-12 meeting will start the 2021 season for LSU, but UCLA has a headstart after a tune-up against Hawaii in Week 0.

The Tigers need to prove last season wasn’t a fair representation of the program post-Joe Burrow. The Bruins want to show the Chip Kelly era is on the upswing.

Who will have the edge at the Rose Bowl?

LSU vs. UCLA odds for Week 1

The Tigers opened as a 4.5-point favorite over the Bruins with an over/under of 69.5 points. The line has since dropped to a field goal.

LSU injury report vs. UCLA in Week 1

Running back John Emery Jr. is dealing with an injury, but he should be good to go for the opener. Tyrion Davis Price, who led the team in rushing last season, is also a question as he continues to deal with a calf injury.

Defensive tackle Glen Logan is definitely out with a foot injury.

UCLA might be without offensive lineman Sam Marrazzo.

Myles Brennan injury update

Quarterback Myles Brennan had surgery on his broken arm and isn’t expected back until midseason at the earliest. Max Johnson will take his place against UCLA.

LSU vs. UCLA prediction for Week 1

The Bruins will be feeling good after a 44-10 beating of Hawaii at the Rose Bowl to open their season. They racked up 244 rushing yards, with transfer Zach Charbonnet showing out.

All we have to go on with LSU is their bright end to last season, including an upset of Florida and a high-scoring win over Ole Miss. Johnson looked good in that last game. However, they left much to be desired on offense and defense.

It wouldn’t be a great surprise to see UCLA pull one over on the Tigers. It really wouldn’t. Orgeron’s men should make it tougher on the Bruin rushing attack, but they’re breaking in new coordinators and could have used their own ease-in game before this relative toss-up.

Prediction: LSU 30-UCLA 33
