Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons is threatening to hold out from training camp until his trade saga is resolved.

Simmons — whose committed the ultimate crime of playing basketball without a jump shot — remains a valuable trade asset for the Philadelphia 76ers as they hope to flip him before the start of the season. Should Daryl Morey and Co. wish to mend fences, it would appear that bridge has burnt down, with Simmons instead preferring to resume his career elsewhere.

"“In a meeting with the 76ers last week in Los Angeles, Simmons told team co-managing partner Josh Harris, president of basketball operations Daryl Morey, general manager Elton Brand and coach Doc Rivers that he no longer wants to remain a Sixer, according to multiple sources,” Pompey reported."

The 25-year-old has let it be known that he wants out at this juncture. He and Joel Embiid do not fit together, as they routinely clog the paint come playoff time.

Simmons was initially linked to the Blazers, but they’re unwilling to part ways with Damian Lillard, making any trade all the more unlikely. The Kings, however, could be an intriguing landing spot should Philly be able to pry away De’Aaron Fox, or even a package surrounding Buddy Hield.

76ers: Ben Simmons trade value has plummeted since the playoffs

The Sixers have to be kicking themselves for not trading Simmons when his value was high. Per reports, at one time they were close to acquiring James Harden from the Houston Rockets in a trade that included Simmons, Tyrese Maxey and others, but balked. Instead, Harden ended up in Brooklyn.

Simmons still hopes to end up in California, but the Lakers, Clippers and Warriors don’t have much interest at the moment.

His inability to shoot in big moments come playoff time really plummeted his trade value, including in Philly’s Game 7 defeat to the Atlanta Hawks this season.
