The Atlanta Braves might’ve just suffered another brutal injury blow as Ozzie Albies was carried off the field.

As of Aug. 31, the Atlanta Braves held a three game lead over the rival Philadelphia Phillies for first-place in the NL East. With over a month remaining in the regular-season, the team needs to be at full health. Unfortunately, they may have lost one of their star infielders to injury.

During Tuesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, second baseman Ozzie Albies fouled a pitch from Walker Buehler off his left knee. Albies was in so much pain that he needed to get carried off of the field.

Albies clearly couldn’t put any weight on that knee, hence the need for teammates to carry him away. Braves manager Brian Snitker called in Ehire Adrianza to pinch hit for Albies. Adrianza remained in the game to fill in at second base.

This season, Albies is slashing .259/.317/.483 while recording 23 home runs, 86 RBI, 82 runs and 133 hits through 129 games.

The Braves are already without Ronald Acuña for the season. Losing Albies down the stretch would be devastating, especially as they try to win the NL East in a close race with the Phillies.
