The Green Bay Packers have placed offensive tackle David Bahktiari on the PUP list.
The Green Bay Packers received a tough blow on Tuesday, as they had to place their star offensive tackle David Bakhtiari on the PUP list.
Bakhtiari is dealing with a knee issue that will keep him out of Packers uniform for at least a good chunk of their start of the season. Fortunately for Green Bay, the Packers have another strong offensive lineman in guard Elgton Jenkins. He earned a Pro Bowl nod a season ago and could kick out to left tackle to offset not having Bakhtiari for the time being. How long will he be out, though?
Here is what going on the PUP list means for Bakhtiari and the Packers as Week 1 approaches.
The #Packers are keeping All-Pro LT David Bakhtiari (knee) on the PUP list into the season, source said, meaning he’ll miss the first six weeks. Tough blow for Green Bay, but this will allow perhaps the game’s best LT the chance to fully heal.

David Bakhtiari injury: When can he return from the PUP list?
By going on the PUP list, Bakhtiari will miss the first six weeks of the 2021 NFL season as he recovers from his knee injury. This means he will miss games vs. the New Orleans Saints (Week 1), the San Francisco 49ers (Week 3) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (Week 4). The absolute earliest Bakhtiari can come off the PUP list is for Week 7’s home game vs. the Washington Football Team.
As long as Bakhtiari’s recovery goes well, he can return at home vs. Washington on Oct. 24.
