The New York Mets have gone exactly zero days without unnecessary drama. So, who better than to sum it all up than Atlanta Braves fans?
The Mets’ thumbs down controversy was, somehow, not the most humiliating thing to happen to them this week.
Mets general manager Zack Scott was arrested for a DUI early Tuesday morning after attending a team charity event at owner Steve Cohen’s house. There is nothing funny about driving while intoxicated. However, it’s tough to deny how often the Mets seemingly put themselves in the news for the wrong reasons.
Atlanta Braves have clear view of dysfunction in same division
Sure, MLB had to move the All-Star Game out of Atlanta earlier this offseason, but that seems like a walk in the park compared to what the Mets are going through.
It’s easy to throw stones from the top of the division standings. Braves fans did not necessarily hold back when discussing how grateful they are to, well, not be the Mets right now.
I hope Javy Báez issues a press release and calls a team meeting to let it be known that this behavior will not be tolerated in the Mets organization. It would only be fair. https://t.co/ZJ5thXeiES

Remember when Mets fans were adamant Steve Cohen would fix their team? That was funny.

Sunday night the Mets put out a statement bashing their players for the thumbs down thing and Monday night all the players are invited over to the owner's house? https://t.co/6Y5yZOZ5FH

I’ve never really had bad feelings towards the Mets like I have the Phillies/Nationals. Even when they’re good, it’s just like, “Don’t worry, they never stay long.”

There were many more. And by no means are fans taking what Scott did lightly.
However, just how many catastrophic events do the Mets need to partake in to convince the rest of the baseball world they’re cursed?
