Rutger University, the state university of New Jersey, is known as the “Birthplace of College Football.” The university hosted the first-ever intercollegiate football game back on Nov. 6, 1869, against a team from the College of New Jersey, which is now known as Princeton University.

As for the end result of that game, Rutgers defeated the College of New Jersey 6-4.
