Nick Saban’s Alabama football team laid the smack down on the hapless Miami Hurricanes.

It was more of the same for Nick Saban’s Alabama football program, as they thoroughly dominated Manny Diaz’s Miami Hurricanes team on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.

Alabama will undoubtedly be the No. 1 team in the land entering Week 2, as the Crimson Tide shellacked Miami to the tune of 44-13. It was not over before opening kickoff, it was over not that much longer after that. For Miami, the Hurricanes need to pick up the pieces to stay competitive atop the ACC. As for Alabama, this was an incredibly impressive neutral-site win over a good team.

Here are the three biggest takeaways from Alabama’s effortless victory over Miami in Week 1.

Alabama football: 3 biggest takeaways from the Miami blowout

3. Running back by committee may be what is in store for Alabama

While Alabama leaned on Najee Harris heavily last year, it looks to be a running back by committee in Tuscaloosa this year for the Crimson Tide. Brian Robinson Jr. led the way with 60 yards on 12 carries. Trey Sanders had 41 yards on eight carries for a touchdown. Jase McClellan had nine carries for 36 yards. Perhaps a balanced rushing attack will be what gets Alabama another title?

2. Jameson Williams stepped up big time in the receiving corps

Alabama is now WRU with so many receivers going high in NFL Drafts. The Crimson Tide lost a pair of first-rounders in DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle. While many people expected John Metchie III to be the leader of the group, we did sleep on Jameson Williams a bit. He came over from Ohio State and made a big impact with four catches for 126 yards and a 94-yard touchdown.

1. Yeah, Bryce Young is going to be just fine at quarterback for Alabama

If you had any doubts about Bryce Young being the guy in Tuscaloosa now that Mac Jones has turned pro, those doubts are long gone after this blowout victory. Young carved up the Miami secondary all afternoon, completing 27-of-38 passes for 344 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. The touchdowns and yards were records for an Alabama quarterback in his debut. It is as if Alabama has not skipped a beat at quarterback.

Alabama’s next game is against the Mercer Bears who just won a miraculous 69-0 blowout.
