Florida State football: Should McKenzie Milton start over Jordan Travis?

McKenzie Milton was ridiculously good for UCF before suffering a devastating injury in 2018. After years of recovery, the quarterback is back healthy and available to play.

So why isn’t he?

Why isn’t McKenzie Milton playing for Florida State football?

Milton transferred to Florida State for the 2021 season and battled with Jordan Travis for the starting job.

While the two were listed as co-starters going into Sunday’s season opener against Notre Dame, Travis was officially announced as the starter just before the game.

Milton has been incredibly successful in his career, but Travis ultimately won the job because of greater consistency in camp.

At UCF, Milton had 8.683 yards and 72 touchdowns through the air with 1,078 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground. He dislocated his knee in November of 2018 and missed the entire 2019 and 2020 season because of surgery and complications during his recovery.

Even though he didn’t win the starting job for FSU to start the season, he will still be able to battle for playing time as the season progresses.
