Georgia football lost starting offensive guard Tate Ratledge to a season-ending foot injury during the season opener against Clemson.

The first big injury blow of the season has hit Georgia football’s offensive line.

During the opener against Clemson, starting guard Tate Ratledge went down with a foot injury. The damage requires surgery that will end his 2021 season, per 247Sports.

Tate Ratledge injury update: Guard to miss rest of Georgia’s season

The redshirt freshman was a first-time starter on the right. He was a four-star prospect in the class of 2020 ranking No. 38 nationally in the 247Sports composite.

Backup center Ericson Warren came into the game to replace Ratledge when he suffered the injury in the first quarter.

No team wants to deal with offensive line injuries, especially so early in the season.

On the plus side, the Bulldogs were able to cope in the defensive battle. While the offense never looked great, they did just enough to get ahead in the end.

Georgia’s rushing attack may have managed just 3.9 yards per carry, but they got the critical yards to run out the clock at the end of the game.

The task now is to take a big step forward offensively even without Ratledge available. Next up, the Bulldogs will take on UAB at home in a game that should be a much more favorable matchup for the offensive front.
