In what was perhaps the most looked-forward-to matchup of the night at AEW All Out, CM Punk competed inside a wrestling ring for the first time since January 2014, as he defeated Darby Allin in front of a hometown crowd at the Now Arena in Chicago.
Punk returned just a couple of weeks ago on the second edition of AEW Rampage, which also took place in Chicago, his first professional wrestling program appearance since walking out of the WWE at the 2014 Royal Rumble.
There, Punk thanked his fans for their support and fully announced his return to wrestling, accepting a previous challenge from Darby Allin for this pay-per-view event.
Allin is a former AEW TNT champion who has been aligned with Sting since the legendary former WCW, NWA and Impact Wrestling champion made his AEW debut last year.

The match started out slow, as the two tied up and felt each other out. The pace picked up gradually though, as the two put on a technical and high-flying display. The match wasn’t long but showed Punk could still go.
Punk had hit a GTS on Allin, but Allin fell out of the ring. Allin attempted to nail a Coffin Drop, but Punk avoided the impact by sitting up.
Allin attempted a Poisonrana but Punk countered and nailed another GTS for the win.
Following the match, Sting came out and shook Punk’s hand, as did Allin in a show of respect.
