With the Green Bay Packers waiting in Week 1, the New Orleans Saints added a veteran receiver by bringing back Chris Hogan.

Jameis Winston just got another target in the fold for Week 1.

With the New Orleans Saints gearing up to take on the Green Bay Packers this Sunday, general manager Mickey Loomis made a small addition by signing veteran receiver Chris Hogan to a one-year deal.

After spending the preseason with New Orleans, Hogan was released as a procedural move and then brought back on Monday morning. With star pass-catcher Michael Thomas out until at least October, Hogan provides the Saints with a reliable pair of hands who should give Winston a short-range target.

Saints sign Chris Hogan to bolster receiver depth

Hogan has been a well-traveled player throughout his long NFL career. He began his odyssey in 2012 and spent four years with the Buffalo Bills before his rookie contract expired. He then signed on with the New England Patriots where he lasted three seasons, reaching the Super Bowl in each campaign while winning two.

After spending 2019 with the Carolina Panthers, Hogan latched onto the New York Jets in ’20, playing 12 games between the two seasons. Last year, he caught 14 passes for 118 yards.

Hogan’s best season was 2016 in New England, when he led the league with 17.9 yards per catch while totaling 38 receptions, 680 yards and four touchdowns for the champs.

Due to Hurricane Ida, the Saints are hosting the Packers in Jacksonville, with Green Bay being 4.5-point favorites.
