The AP Top 25 poll is one of the most important college football rankings systems out there.

Until the College Football Playoff Selection Committee meets in Texas, the AP Top 25 poll remains our guiding light when it comes to ranking teams.

It is a very simple way to figure out who the best teams around the nation are. Members of the Associated Press submit ballots after each weeks’ slate of games, ranking their own top 25’s. A first-place vote gets 25 points all the way down to a 25th-place vote getting one. All the votes are tallied, and there you go. Of course, people always try to find a way to get mad at the AP for this.

So what time should we expect to see the AP Top 25 poll be released each week of the season?

AP Top 25 poll: What time is it released during the college football season?

Every Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. ET, the AP Top 25 poll comes out. This allows all the journalists enough time to submit their ballots and for those votes to be tallied. It is a great way to spark conversations heading into the next week of college football, providing some talking points as the NFL slate is firmly underway. Though the AP does get it wrong a lot, it is the best we got.

Until the Selection Committee meets, this is the ranking system we lean on in college football.
