1. Teddy Bridgewater, QB

The Broncos have been hampered by poor play at the quarterback position since Peyton Manning retired following Super Bowl 50. The team decided to bring in competition for 2019 second-round draft pick Drew Lock, and that was former Carolina Panthers starter Teddy Bridgewater, who just so happens to be the Week 1 starter.

Bridgewater filled in admirably as the New Orleans Saints starter in 2019 after Drew Brees sat due to injury. That led to him signing a huge three-year contract with the Panthers, but things did not go well on the field for Bridgewater. Through 15 games, Bridgewater threw for 3,733 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions on a 69.1 completion percentage.

Carolina moved on from Bridgewater after they acquired Sam Darnold from the New York Jets. Now, Bridgewater is the starter for the Broncos for the start of the 2021 season.

As is the obvious, an offense needs their starting quarterback to be accurate and make good decisions for the squad to thrive. Bridgewater may have defeated Lock in the quarterback position, but there is a chance that he could be replaced if he does not produce at the start of the season.

The Giants defense presents itself as a challenge for Bridgewater, but he has all of the tools around him to succeed. If he does not, that could give New York a chance to escape Week 1 with a “W.”
