The road to the Super Bowl begins anew on Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Cleveland Browns. Who needs to step up in Week 1?

The 2021 season in Kansas City opens with a juicy matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

That means there’s no time for easing in. The Chiefs have to be ready to play against a team also vying for Super Bowl glory.

The Chiefs are gearing up to start an entirely changed offensive line in 2021. The scary part? It features two rookies who will be making their NFL debuts in Week 1.

Sixth-round 2021 draft pick Trey Smith has been a hugely pleasant surprise at right guard in the preseason, slotting right in and looking like an utter steal out of Tennessee.

Obviously, Smith has to keep that up. However, the real pressure will be on center Creed Humphrey.

Humphrey was a two-time Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year and a three-year starter at Oklahoma, so it’s not like he’s never been on the big stage. Still, he’s stepping into one of the most critical roles on an offensive line, one where experience and poise matter immensely.

He doesn’t have NFL experience, but he sure looked the part in the preseason, even making Pro Football Focus’ preseason All-Rookie Team.

The real test will be how he handles going up against a formidable Browns defensive front.
