The Michigan football team has to replace Ronnie Bell in the starting lineup at wide receiver.

While it was great to get back into the win column on Saturday, the Michigan football team has to adjust to life without wide receiver Ronnie Bell the rest of the way.

The senior wide receiver had a 76-yard touchdown reception before succumbing to a season-ending knee injury vs. the Western Michigan Broncos in Week 1. He was going to be such an integral part of the Wolverines’ receiving game, and now Bell is lost for the year. Michigan has a great shot to get to 2-0 with a win over Washington, but the Wolverines have to replace him.

Ronnie Bell injury: Who replaces him as Michigan’s starting wide receiver?

Stepping up and making a big impact in the Wolverines receiving corps in Bell’s extended absence was Daylen Baldwin. The senior had a 69-yard touchdown reception in his Michigan debut last week. The Southfield, Michigan native had played at Morgan State and Jackson State previously before coming to play for Jim Harbaugh’s team this year. Look for him to get bigger opportunities to be on the receiving end of passes from Cade McNamara.

Last week was Michigan’s first win in the Big House in over a year. While the Wolverines were expected to beat the Broncos, they will welcome a Washington Huskies team that got upset by Montana in Week 1. Jimmy Lake will not want to feel the pressure of falling into an 0-2 hole to start out his second year on the job. This is why guys like Baldwin have to step up for Michigan.

With Bell out for the year, Baldwin has to be the next man up on the Michigan receiving corps.
