Defeating the Indianapolis Colts will be a team effort, but here are five prominent Seahawks players who could serve a major role in a win for Seattle.

For their season premiere, the Seattle Seahawks will be traveling to Lucas Oil Stadium in hopes of notching their first win of the year against the Indianapolis Colts.

While the Seahawks finished the 2020 season 12-4 and took the NFC West title, the Colts finished one win behind at 11-5 with second place in the AFC South. Both teams lost in the first round of the playoffs, yet both enter this season as strong playoff contenders.

The Seahawks have maintained crucial starters like Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, Jamal Adams and the D.K. Metcalf/Tyler Lockett pair, all while attempting to patch up defensive deficiencies in the offseason. The Colts have had a major overhaul at quarterback with the addition of Carson Wentz, whose pairing with wide Michael Pittman Jr. could be as threatening as Philip Rivers’ pairing with Pittman was last season.

Here are five players the Seahawks need in order to knock out a win in Week 1.

Tight ends like Travis Kelce and George Kittle put the rest in the game to shame, which is probably why the Seahawks have an eye out for a talented pass-catching tight end to open up their offense. Greg Olsen would have been perfect about ten years ago, but in the wake of his departure, the Seahawks snagged an intriguing option from the Los Angeles Rams in Gerald Everett.

What makes Everett critical this season is the former Ram that accompanied him to Seattle: Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron

Waldron’s West Coast offense is set to crack the Seahawks offense wide open, and with a two tight end threat in Everett and Dissly, Wilson has improved blocking and passing depending on the play.

If Everett pops off in Indianapolis, it could be the first glimpse of a Wilson offense that sizzles all season.
