Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady picked up where he left off, looking ready to launch an NFL MVP campaign in 2021.

One day, age is going to catch up to Tom Brady. It just looks like it’s going to take a while.

The 44-year-old Buccaneers quarterback didn’t just look good for his age during the first half of Thursday’s season-opener against the Cowboys. He looked like an MVP candidate.

Tom Brady’s MVP campaign has already begun

Early on, Brady delivered two touchdowns to put Tampa Bay ahead of Dallas.

It looked easy for Brady, spreading the ball around to Antonio Brown, Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski and Mike Evans.

The only miscue for the quarterback stemmed from running back struggles. Ronald Jones II fumbled on one drive and Leonard Fournette tipped a screen up in the air to be intercepted on the next. That pick was far from Brady’s fault.

He turned around and ripped his best pass of the night down the field to Brown for a touchdown.

It was the perfect response to an interception and the Cowboys taking the lead.

Brady put up big numbers last year with his fourth 4,000-yard season in a row. In fact, he had his best campaign in terms of yardage since 2015 and threw more touchdowns than he had since 2007. There’s no reason to expect him to do any less this season with so many familiar targets surrounding him.

Brady was last an MVP in 2017 at age 40. He already claims the title of oldest MVP in NFL history. He could absolutely set that mark again with the Buccaneers this time if things go well in 2021.
