Dan Campbell commented on unsubstantiated rumors regarding a police investigation into Detroit Lions running back D’Andre Swift.

Rumors circulated via social media that Swift was named in a murder investigation. These rumors, in every sense of the word, have been disproven to this point.

Yet, Lions coach Dan Campbell was approached about the noise surrounding his running back, and he felt the need to comment on Swift’s availability.

“That’s just internet rumors I don’t feel I need to comment on right now,” Campbell said. “(He is not being investigated), not to my knowledge.”

While there is an open murder case that Swift was involved in, his has not been named as a suspect, per the Philadelphia Police Department.

The Lions don’t have high expectations entering the season, and rightly so. After trading Matthew Stafford, the Lions are building for the future, even with Jared Goff under center. Campbell knows this, and a young building block like Swift needs to have his head in the right place.

Swift totaled just under 900 yards from scrimmage last season in 13 games. With a full 17-game slate, there’s no telling his potential on an offense that desperately needs playmakers.
