Three ranked college football teams were upset Saturday and will reshape the AP Top 25 poll.

Saturday was not without a few notable upsets in college football with three ranked teams losing.

It started off with a bang in Columbus, as the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes fell to the No. 12 Oregon Ducks in The Horseshoe. In the other marquee game of the day, the No. 9 Iowa State Cyclones were no match for the No. 10 Iowa Hawkeyes for the CyHawk, in Ames, nonetheless. And then in the late-window the unranked Arkansas Razorbacks messed with the No. 15 Texas Longhorns.

While those three fell, teams like the Miami Hurricanes, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Texas A&M Aggies should be thanking their lucky stars that they were not upset, too.

Though losses like these happen all the time, these three non-conference affairs have a major negative impact on the Big Ten’s upward trajectory and the Big 12’s overall playoff viability. Iowa State and Texas are seen as two of the top four teams in the Big 12. If Oklahoma were to lose a game, that might seriously put the conference’s chances of getting a team in in serious jeopardy.

As for the Big Ten, Iowa looks really good, but keep in mind the Big Ten is usually only as good as Ohio State allows it to be. Penn State has played well in the early part of the season too, but blue-bloods like Ohio State and Wisconsin having early-season losses could impact the playoff viability of the Big Ten as well in some capacity. It is not in as bad of shape as the Big 12 is right now.

No. 14 USC, No. 21 Utahn and No. 23 Arizona State are still playing at the time of publication.
