The Yankees and Mets stood as one on the field, as they commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
Saturday was a somber day in the United States, as it marked 20 years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York City, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pa. Prior to every game, there were tributes held for the nearly 3,000 lives lost on that day.
Prior to their Subway Series matchup, the New York Yankees and Mets held a powerful tribute to honor those lost in the World Trade Center attacks. Both teams took the field as one, shaking hands while donning hats honoring the first responders that helped on that day in New York City.

Yankees, Mets take field as one team on 20th anniversary of 9/11
It was an emotional ceremony prior to first pitch. There was a moment of silence held for the lives lost on that day, as well as the singing of the Star Bangled Banner by New York City Pal Cops and Kids Choir. After the singing of America the Beautiful, Joe Torre and Bobby Valentine threw out the first pitch. Both were managers of the Yankees and Mets, respectively, at the time of the attacks.
