Oregon safety trolls Ohio State recruits with savage burn after huge upset in Columbus
Oregon knocked off Ohio State in The Horseshoe and a Ducks safety had a trolling message for a few recruits in attendance to see the Buckeyes.
Despite being two-touchdown underdogs, the Oregon Ducks went on the road to Columbus (more than 2,400 miles away from home in Eugene) in front of a juiced-up crowd and delivered a statement with a 35-28 win over No. 3-ranked Ohio State. It was the type of upset that reverberates throughout the sport and in the College Football Playoff race.
And if Ducks safety Marko Vidackovic has anything to say about it, the win could continue echoing into the recruiting race as well.
As you’d expect for the first Ohio State home game in almost two years with fans, there were some recruits visiting the Buckeyes campus on Saturday to see the big-game environment. But after Oregon came away with the emphatic victory, Vidackovic went over to the “stunned” recruits and delivered a troll job (and recruiting pitch) for the ages: You boys better come to Oregon.
While Vidackovic might not win over these recruits for the Ducks, the message is received: Oregon football is back and here to stay.
Since Mario Cristobal took over at Eugene, he’s excelled on the recruiting trail, bringing in an unprecedented level of talent to the program on-par with the likes of Ohio State and the other perennial National Championship contenders. That was evident in the win as the Ducks triumphed despite not having two defensive stars, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Justin Flowe, available to play.
The Buckeyes aren’t going anywhere in terms of their own recruiting, to be sure. But the group that was trolled by Vidackovic certainly won’t forget this visit and the hilarious aftermath they played a part in.
