Packers: 3 ways Aaron Rodgers can add to his legacy this season
By Mark Powell
2. Overcome Packers drama for the better
A Super Bowl would do the trick, but if Rodgers can back up his MVP campaign from 2020 despite facing doubters among his own organization, then he can add yet another subplot to his Hall of Fame resume.
Rodgers threw for 48 touchdowns and only five interceptions last season, which are truly astounding statistics given the massive distraction of playing in the middle of a pandemic.
Yet, this offseason, Rodgers’ drama festered as the franchise failed to surround him with weapons he deemed viable, and didn’t extend his primary target in Davante Adams. Despite all the records Rodgers has set in a Packers uniform, he doesn’t receive the respect you’d expect from a front office that owes him everything.
1. Leave the Packers to win elsewhere
Sure, I’m bending the rules slightly here, by either extending season into the offseason, or suggesting the Packers would trade their greatest asset by the deadline. Neither makes a lot of sense, but stick with me.
Did anyone think it possible for Peyton Manning or Tom Brady to add to their Hall-of-Fame resumes? No, not particularly. Yet, when Manning won a Super Bowl in Denver and Brady achieved that same fate in Tampa Bay, it sent them into another stratosphere as far as legacy is concerned.
Rodgers could do the same.
