The Texas Longhorns take on the Arkansas Razorbacks as a huge matchup on the Week 2 college football slate and we have you covered with all the info.

For anyone wondering how the Steve Sarkisian era was going to begin for the Texas Longhorns, he answered that loudly with a strong, emphatic win over Louisiana. Now they have a chance to do that again as they go on the road in Week 2 and face an SEC opponent in the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Arkansas won against Rice to begin their season but were much less impressive than the Longhorns in doing so. With that said, they could’ve been looking ahead and there should still be plenty of intrigue for this huge matchup on Saturday night.

This should be an entertaining game if for no other reason than to watch Texas and see how good this team can be. From every angle, we’re here to get you prepared for this game.

Texas vs. Arkansas Odds NCAA Week 2

Point Spread: Texas -7.0
Moneyline: Texas -270, Arkansas +215
Over/Under: 56.5 points
Odds via WynnBet

This point spread just seems wrong to me. Texas looked dominant last week while there was a point last week when the Razorbacks were trailing Rice around halftime. That’s not something that seemingly equates to the Longhorns only being favored by a touchdown, even on the road.  Take Sarkisian’s team and run to the window. However, the same isn’t true for the point total as that’s a tough number to figure out when you look at the Arkansas offense. I lean under but just barely. It’s probably a stay-away.

Texas injury report vs. Arkansas NCAA Week 2

There are some injuries to monitor for the Longhorns that could have an effect. Troy Omeire is likely still out at wide receiver as he recovers from an ACL tear but tight end Jared Wiley is also going to be close to a game-time decision. The good news for Texas fans is that key offensive lineman Junior Angilau will play after leaving the season opener.

Texas vs. Arkansas Prediction NCAA Week 2

As mentioned when discussing the odds, I don’t see this as a, particularly close matchup. Nothing about what Arkansas showed leads me to believe they’ll have answers for Bijan Robinson and the Longhorns offense and the Razorbacks attack just doesn’t inspire much confidence. The only reason I’m not saying this is an outright blowout is A. because it’s in Fayetteville and B. because you never know with Texas. Still, it’s a decisive win for the Longhorns. Final Score: Texas 38, Arkansas 27

Texas Next Game and Schedule

  • Sept. 18: vs. Rice
  • Sept. 25: vs. Texas Tech
  • Oct. 2: at TCU
  • Oct. 9: vs. Oklahoma
  • Oct. 16: vs. Oklahoma State
  • Oct. 30: at Baylor
  • Nov. 6: at Iowa State
  • Nov. 13: vs. Kansas

Matchups against Rice and then the Big 12 opener against Texas Tech should be nice games for the Longhorns as well but then things start to get tricky in a hurry with the conference as the Red River Rivalry is sandwiched between a trip to Fort Worth to play TCU and then a date with Oklahoma State. That’s a tough slate and Sark hopes to get his team in the right space for it.
