Peak Harbaugh: Michigan coach references General Patton, Neil Armstrong in hilarious presser
By John Buhler
Of course, Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh would reference General Patton and Neil Armstrong in a hilarious press conference.
Things are going pretty smoothly for Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh these days, as he referenced General Patton and Neil Armstrong in a hilarious early-week press conference.
Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines are 2-0 on the year and have looked great thus far. They just cracked the AP Top 25 poll after running all over Jimmy Lake’s Washington Huskies. When asked why Michigan’s offensive attack was so ground-centric, he said General Patton got it done on the ground. While Armstrong got it done through the air, Michigan chose to win on the ground Week 2.
Michigan plays its last non-conference game of the year at home vs. Northern Illinois in Week 3.
Jim Harbaugh alludes to General Patton, Neil Armstrong in press conference
Admittedly, I am very critical of Harbaugh and his schtick. But you know what? The Wolverines are winning and playing great ball, so I’m cool with this. We have been dying to see Michigan have a top-flight offense since Harbaugh came back to his alma mater in 2015. Again, the Wolverines have only beaten Western Michigan and an 0-2 Washington team, but they are playing very well.
Factor in arch rival Ohio State losing at home in The Horseshoe last Saturday, and this is about as good of a first two weeks for Michigan football we have seen in a while. If you want to have fun with the media and compare your offense to what General Patton did overseas or Armstrong did in space, you have earned that right. So will it be by air or will it be by ground vs. Northern Illinois?
It is cool to see Michigan string together a pair of dominating performances back-to-back already.
