Georgia football fans are eagerly awaiting the news on if JT Daniels will start vs. South Carolina.

Though Kirby Smart‘s Georgia football team had no issues with UAB last Saturday, a lot was made about starting quarterback JT Daniels not being healthy enough to play.

Daniels was dealing with an oblique injury that really came to light the morning after the Clemson game. Though he was not ruled out until minutes before kickoff vs. UAB, the Dawgs did just fine with Stetson Bennett filling in for him. While Bennett is more than capable of leading Georgia to a victory over SEC East rival South Carolina on Saturday night, Dawgs fans are wondering if Daniels will play.

Here is the latest from the mouth of Coach Smart on the health of his team’s starting quarterback, via Seth Emerson of The Athletic from Monday’s media availability.

JT Daniels injury update: Georgia quarterback’s health is improving each day

While Daniels will probably be healthy enough to play on Saturday night vs. South Carolina, Georgia is in a fantastic position to take things slowly with this nagging injury. Not only is this a night game, thus allowing the Georgia training staff more time to evaluate Daniels’ injury, but the Gamecocks are rebuilding under first-year head coach and former Smart assistant Shane Beamer.

Georgia has way more than enough talent to get to 4-0 with easy victories over South Carolina and Vanderbilt before Arkansas comes to town on Oct. 2. By then, Daniels should be fully healthy, but if he is not, then expect the “The Mailman” to be cooking with some serious napalm in Athens. Keep in mind he saved the Dawgs’ hide Week 1 in Fayetteville last September.

Though Daniels should be healthy enough to play, Georgia has no reason to force him into action against an inferior opponent and risk a setback, especially with how well Bennett fared in Week 2.
