1. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 2 – Texans RB Mark Ingram II

Perhaps the most valuable piece of information fantasy football owners picked up in Week 1 was the usage of the Houston Texans’ backfield. Houston raised eyebrows by adding Phillip Lindsay, Mark Ingram and Rex Burkhead to join David Johnson in a four-headed backfield that had serious committee headache potential.

The clear leader of the committee is Ingram, who dominated the workload for the Texans in Week 1, racking up 26 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown, while Lindsay and Johnson combined for just 11 totes (although Lindsay did add a score to salvage his fantasy day).

The Texans were a team committed to rushing at all costs, dialing up 41 run plays compared to just 33 passes, which makes sense with Tyrod Taylor at quarterback. Ingram’s efficiency leaves plenty to be desired but right now he is the undisputed king of this committee and is getting red zone looks to boot, making him a very valuable commodity when running backs are hard to find in fantasy.

Game flow is certainly a risk for Ingram, who doesn’t offer anything as a pass-catcher, but his role as the top goal-line back gives him solid RB2 potential if he can hit paydirt. Add Ingram as a flex play with the ability to start as your RB2 depending on the matchup.
