The Raiders and the Ravens played an entertaining Monday Night Football game with twists and turns as they each tried to hand the other side the game.
If you didn’t watch the first Monday Night Football game of the season, you missed an instant classic between two teams who seemed to have zero interest in winning.
The Raiders and the Ravens both tried to give the game away at every turn. It might have been heartstopping for fans of either team, but neutrals got quite the show.
The Raiders and the Ravens played a wild Monday Night Football classic
The drama started in the final seconds as Las Vegas tied the game on a 55-yard field goal. From there, things just got crazier and crazier.
First, it looked like Vegas had won it on a huge third-down conversion that was initially ruled a touchdown.
Bryan Edwards comes up HUGE. Raiders down to the goal line! #RaiderNation pic.twitter.com/9lpUqB4v3O

However, Bryan Edwards was ruled down before the goal line and the officials had to clear the field to get the game going again.
What a desperation fling by Carr. Surely the Raiders can make one yard in four tries.

Narrator voice: They could not as Carr threw an interception.
Uh-oh, Raiders fans.

The Raiders bruh. 💀

HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU MESS THAT UP RAIDERS!!!!
— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) September 14, 2021
Hahahahahahaha This could be the most Raidery Raiders loss I’ve ever seen

If you've been a Raider fan for a while, you knew that overturned TD would lead to disaster
— Ted Nguyen (@FB_FilmAnalysis) September 14, 2021
This would be one of the most excruciating losses in recent NFL history. I can’t even fathom what Raiders fans are going through right now.

Derek Carr throws an interception in the end zone on the #Raiders first drive of overtime.

The #Ravens win probability increased from 20% to 53%, an increase of 33%. #BALvsLV | #RaiderNation pic.twitter.com/JoUzV7RGQR
The funniest part of it was how the Raiders thought they’d won the game just before.

It would be so Raiders if they celebrated a win on opening night ... that wasn't a win.

The craziest part was that the Raiders won anyways thanks to a Lamar Jackson fumble.
WHAT'S HAPPENING

Baltimore is out-choking the Raiders
— Marcus Thompson II (@ThompsonScribe) September 14, 2021
The game was just bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S. So it was fitting that instead of a simple field goal, the game ended on a wide-open touchdown pass.
THIS TIME IT'S OFFICIAL. THE @RAIDERS WIN IN OT. #BALvsLV pic.twitter.com/2nKtGc3XmF

Fitting that the first professional football game in Vegas with fans had that type of absolute roller coaster ending for the gamblers in the stands and in the sports books down the strip.
— nick wright (@getnickwright) September 14, 2021
That was fun. Raiders deserved to win.
who won the raiders-ravens game well guess what it’s you
— Brian Floyd (@BrianMFloyd) September 14, 2021
To recap: Las Vegas won, then they didn’t. Then they choked, but the Ravens choked harder.
It’s going to be hard for future Monday night showdowns to match the excitement of that one. What a way to end the first week of NFL action for 2021. You literally couldn’t have scripted it.
