Week 1 of the fantasy season has concluded, and as usual, free agents in your league blew up. Now, it’s a race to pick the right ones up.

Week 1 of the fantasy season always comes with players who went undrafted having big weeks, leaving managers scrambling trying to pick them up and putting themselves in position to win in the short and long term.

Early-season pickups are nearly just as important as your draft, as you add unexpected talent essentially for free that can take you over the top.

5. Mark Ingram, RB, Houston Texans

The Texans’ backfield was destined to be a fantasy headache after the team signed Mark Ingram, Phillip Lindsay, and Rex Burkhead to roll with David Johnson. However, it was Ingram on Sunday who took control, carrying the ball 26 times.

Ingram led the way in carries, while Lindsay handled eight and Johnson handled six. However, let’s not get overly-excited about Ingram. Lindsay still played 28% of snaps, and all three backs were involved.

Expect Ingram to continue to lead a three-headed monster going forward, meaning he should be a quality add as a guy to hold on your roster. While he won’t get the massive workload due to positive game scripts every week, it’s clear the Texans view him as their starter.
