The Oklahoma Sooners and Nebraska Cornhuskers renew an age-old rivalry as they face off in Norman for Week 3 of the college football season.

For years, you could make the argument that the Big Eight matchup between the Oklahoma Sooners and Nebraska Cornhuskers was one of college football’s best. But with the formation of the Big 12 that split the programs between divisions and then the Huskers eventually joining the Big Ten, we’ve been missing it. Week 3 of the 2021 season will bring it back to our lives.

Unfortunately, the shine around the Cornhuskers has worn off quite a bit from the early-to-mid 1990s. Now, former star Scott Frost is trying to get the program to relevance again but has been struggling to do as much. OU, on the other hand, enters this game ranked No. 3 in the country and with a legitimate hope of winning a National Championship this season.

So, all told, it might be one-sided. But this is still a storied college football matchup that fans and bettors alike will want to be a part of. We have you covered on how to do just that on Saturday.

Whenever you have a historic rivalry between Power Five programs, it’s wild to see a line such as this. The Sooners are more than three-touchdown favorites against the Huskers, albeit at home. But the even crazier part is that OU feels like the good bet. There’s nothing we’ve seen from Scott Frost’s team to make me think they can remotely hang in this matchup.

The point total is a bit tougher to come by but, some Oklahoma slip-ups defensively and offensively as well against Tulane lead to the belief that Nebraska can muster enough on offense to get this game to the over.

Nebraska vs. Oklahoma Prediction Week 3

Can anyone think of a world where Oklahoma shouldn’t dominate this game? Yes, the Sooners should’ve done the same in their season-opener but got sloppy down the stretch. But are we really going to say that what we’ve seen from the Huskers is all that far removed from what Tulane is — in fact, they might be even worse.

Regardless, Spencer Rattler struggled at the beginning of 2020, tightened up and then went on a roll. I’m expecting the same from him and the Sooners offense, especially against a Huskers defense that can’t stop anyone. Nebraska, as stated, will find enough opportunity to put something on the board but it won’t be nearly enough. Final Score: Nebraska 20, Oklahoma 48

Getting a Power 5 team in Nebraska before starting the Big 12 slate is going to be important for the Sooners. They also have a relatively smooth road until the Red River Showdown with Texas on the second Saturday of October, especially with Kansas State losing their quarterback again.
