3. Los Angeles Clippers

The first contender that could benefit from John Wall’s services is the Los Angeles Clippers.

Two years ago, this iteration of the Clippers was brought together to be a player in the Western Conference and to take the throne in L.A. They fell short on both of those action items and are entering this season without their best player, Kawhi Leonard, who is recovering from an ACL injury. The Clips still figure to be pretty good in the West behind their second star, Paul George, but could use some help in the backcourt.

If brought in, Wall would potentially join a backcourt that features Reggie Jackson, who signed a two-year $22 million deal this offseason, Eric Bledsoe, who was recently acquired from Memphis and is making $18 million, sharpshooter Luke Kennard and the young Terance Mann. A trade for Wall would likely demand movement for one or two of these guards, but it could be worth it.

Wall’s command of the floor and ability to make the right reads is a premium that the aforementioned guards have not demonstrated to the degree that Wall does. This playmaking may be valuable in late-game situations and Wall’s ability to put pressure on the defensive with his attacking can help create more opportunities for the cast around him.
