Orlando Brown has perfect reaction to his horrible debut with Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Orlando Brown had a rough showing in Week 1 and he knows he’s got to play better moving forward.
While the Kansas City Chiefs were able to record a heart-stopping win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, that doesn’t mean there weren’t plenty of negatives from that contest. Up front, the offensive line really had a day to forget.
For left tackle Orlando Brown Jr., he was nothing short of disappointing in the showdown against the Browns. Moving forward, Brown knows that the pressure will be on him to bounce back and do a better job of protecting Patrick Mahomes’ blindside.
Orlando Brown is ready to improve after a rough Week 1 performance
“Flat out, I have to play better,” Brown said via Arrowhead Pride. “I’m here to dominate no matter who I’m going against or whatever the circumstance is. I have to play better, and I will.”
Brown indeed struggled against the Cleveland pass-rush, as he allowed a career-worst five quarterback pressures. This included a sack and one QB hit. Plain and simple, that kind of a performance isn’t going to get the job done for Brown and the Chiefs.
We all saw how frustrating it was for Mahomes in the Super Bowl to try and deal with Tampa Bay’s defensive linemen putting consistent pressure on him. It completely took KC out of its game.
For 2021, the offensive line needs to step its game up. With so many changes for the unit, it of course might take a little time for everyone to gel together. However, Brown knows that they’ve all got to grow together and make sure Mahomes has enough time to do his thing. They’ll have an opportunity to do that come Sunday against the Ravens in Baltimore.
