3. Green Bay’s ground game will get going

The Packers’ offense was forced to abandon the ground game after falling behind so early against the Saints. The end result was no Green Bay ball carrier getting more than five rushing attempts. LaFleur will make sure that mistake isn’t repeated against Detroit.

Both Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon have a chance to get serious work in this game. Jones should get the lion’s share of the workload due to his big-play ability, but Dillon will get his chance to pound the middle of Detroit’s defense as well.

The game plan for Green Bay will be to establish the run early in the game and then terrorize the Lions’ secondary with play-action passing for big plays. Then the Packers will revert to running the game down the stretch to salt their victory away.

The Lions do have talent in their front seven but it won’t be enough to stop LaFleur’s creative rushing game plan in this one. Taking pressure off the passing game with a competent run game will help power the Packers to victory.
