White Sox reliever throws 3 straight pitches at Shohei Ohtani’s ankle (Video)
By Mark Powell
White Sox reliever Mike Wright was ejected after throwing three straight pitches at Shohei Ohtani in the ninth inning.
Ohtani has 44 home runs on the season — one off the MLB lead, which belongs to Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. and Salvador Perez.
With the Angels up 9-3 in the ninth inning and Ohtani at the plate, he received three straight pitches at his feet courtesy of Tony La Russa’s White Sox.

After conferring, the umpires opted to throw Wright out of the game, not so much because he hit Ohtani on purpose (we think), but because he was a danger to himself and others.
Tony La Russa was not happy with that decision, and argued with the umps, earning his own ejection.
White Sox: Mike Wright ejected for plunking Shohei Ohtani
Was it the right call to eject Wright?
Why Sox fans will argue otherwise, especially considering he probably didn’t hit Ohtani on purpose in the ninth inning of a 9-3 ball-game. But if Wright cannot find the strike zone, does it make any sense to keep him in the game?
