Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys

Rostered: 2.5%

Blake Jarwin has a higher rostered percentage than Dalton Schultz, but Schultz outpaced Jarwin in receptions, receiving yards, and targets against the Buccaneers.

Schultz was actually ninth among tight ends in fantasy points from Week 2 to Week 17 last season. Due to the return of Jarwin, Schultz will likely not offer consistent TE1 production again.

However, he can be a solid TE2 in the Cowboys’ offense. In Dak Prescott’s five starts last season, he averaged 371.2 passing yards per game. That trend continued against the Buccaneers as Prescott threw for 403 yards.

James O’Shaughnessy, Jacksonville Jaguars

Rostered: 0.5%

James O’Shaughnessy posted six receptions for 48 yards against the Texans on Sunday. This is O’Shaughnessy’s fifth season in Jacksonville, and he has never been extremely involved in the passing game. In O’Shaughnessy’s seven-year career, he has never been a top-45 fantasy tight end in any individual season.

Nevertheless, Week 1 should spark some optimism. He received eight targets, which marked a new career-high, so rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence may build better chemistry with O’Shaughnessy than the Jacksonville’s previous quarterbacks. In addition, he was on the field for 59 offensive snaps.

O’Shaughnessy will not be a TE1 in most leagues, but in deeper leagues, he is an intriguing option. This week’s matchup against the Broncos is not ideal, but the Jaguars should be playing from behind, once again.
