Breaking down the college football odds for the early slate of games in Week 3 and making our picks and best bets for those contests with Oklahoma involved.

While the headliner games for Week 3 of the college football season may not be included in the early slate, there is plenty to watch for and, more importantly, bet on to start your Saturday. Oklahoma and Nebraska renew an old Big Eight rivalry, for starters, but we also have Michigan, Texas A&M, Coastal Carolina, Notre Dame and much more playing in the early games.

If you’re trying to invest some capital at every part of your college football Saturday, we’ve got you covered with how to get your day started. We’re looking at the early games in Week 3 and offering our college football picks for the best bets.

These three stand out as the locks you can count on to hit in the early games. (Note: All odds are courtesy of WynnBet.)

College football picks and best bets for Week 3 early slate

3. Best bet: Northern Illinois vs. Michigan (-27.0)

Michigan’s offense hasn’t necessarily given me a ton of confidence against a 27-point spread but Northern Illinois renews my faith. Allowing 231 rushing yards per game against a Wolverines team currently averaging 339 yards on the ground should be a recipe for Jim Harbaugh’s team to quite literally run away from the Huskies

2. Best bet: Nebraska vs. Oklahoma (-22.0)

Great job by Nebraska beating Fordham and Buffalo. Fun fact, those teams aren’t Oklahoma. While the Sooners haven’t been perfect, the Huskers don’t have the defensive prowess to slow them down and having faith in their offense against good teams is a recipe for disaster.

1. Best bet: New Mexico vs. Texas A&M – Under 50.5 points

Texas A&M as a 29.5-favorite is interesting but, as the Aggies start Zach Calzada — who looked bad in relief last week — my bet is that this game is plodding while the A&M defense dominates. That should be an easy path to the under.
