The Auburn Tigers and Penn State Nittany Lions are set to meet in Beaver Stadium on Saturday.
Auburn and Penn State are facing off in one of the more intriguing matchups we’ve had so far. The No. 22 Tigers have taken to the road and will be playing the No. 10 Nittany Lions in State College, Pennsylvania.
The Tigers are rolling into Happy Valley with one of the most explosive offenses in the country. This team has racked up at least 60 points in each of its last two games. Now the Tigers are set to face Penn State, a team that’s holding opponents to 11.5 points per game so far this year.
But Penn State hasn’t faced this sort of offense just yet, and to be fair, Auburn hasn’t faced a defense this talented just yet either. The Nittany Lions were able to beat up on Wisconsin to start the season, holding the Badgers to 10 points in the season opener.
While the Tigers don’t appear to have the best team in the Southeastern Conference, a win over an SEC foe would be a monumental victory for the Nittany Lions. Beating Auburn would potentially set the Nittany Lions up to move up in the polls and would land them in the College Football Playoff discussion. Meanwhile, a win for Auburn would have similar implications but would also be big from a program-building standpoint for new head coach Bryan Harsin.

The Auburn Tigers could potentially be without the services of cornerback Jaylin Simpson, running back Shaun Shivers, and wide receiver Ja’Varrius Johnson, but according to a report from AL.com, Harsin is hopeful the three will be able to play Saturday.
