Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney looked like death on the sidelines as Georgia Tech gave the Tigers a major upset scare.

Clemson came two yards and a two-point conversion away from having their playoff hopes disintegrate on Saturday against Georgia Tech.

Head coach Dabo Swinney looked like he felt decades’ worth of anxiety in those final seconds.

Dabo Swinney looked like death on the sidelines vs. Georgia Tech

That’s the look of a man who was keenly aware of how quickly things can fall apart in college football.

One moment you’re a national title contender, the next you’re a two-loss ACC team with zero hope of making the playoff.

Fortunately for Swinney, his team kept disaster from striking with a goalline stand to preserve the victory, 14-8.

The Tigers lost a hard-fought game to Georgia to begin the season, putting them in a tough spot for the rest of the season. There is no room for error. They can still get in if they win out. Falling to Georgia Tech would have been the end.

Swinney got out of trouble in the end, but Clemson looks more vulnerable than they have in years. It could be a long and stressful campaign unless D.J. Uiagalelei and the offense find their groove.

Clemson will be on the road next week against NC State.
