UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel suffered a broken clavicle on the final play of Friday’s loss to Louisville.

UCF football fans got injury added to insult after the Knights lost in heartbreaking fashion to Louisville late Friday night.

Starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel suffered a broken clavicle on the final play of the game and the remainder of his season is in jeopardy.

Gabriel revealed the injury diagnosis on social media on Saturday afternoon.

Dillon Gabriel injury update: Broken clavicle recovery timeline

Gabriel will not require surgery but is out indefinitely.

Each person is different and each recovery timeline is unique to the individual, placement of the break among other factors, but Gabriel could be out for the rest of the season.

A broken clavicle can take between six-eight weeks to fully heal.

If Gabriel returns on the short end of that recovery timeline, he could be back in time for the stretch run of the schedule in early to mid-November.

Don’t expect UCF to rush Gabriel back if he’s not fully healed and has time to practice and mentally recover from the physical injury as well. If UCF is in the mix for a conference championship, the pressure for Gus Malzahn to play his star quarterback will intensify.

Look for UCF to give Gabriel something worth coming back for later this season.
