Tennessee football has found its quarterback in Hendon Hooker. He left no doubt in the Volunteers blowout of Tennessee Tech.

Tennessee came into the season with uncertainty at quarterback. Would Joe Milton guide the team or Hendon Hooker?

On Saturday it sure looked like Milton is on track to be wally-pipped

With Joe Milton out, Hendon Hooker put the Tennessee QB controversy to bed

With Milton out with an injury, Hooker got the start for the first time this season and went to town.

Through the first three quarters of the game, Hooker was 17-of-25 for 199 yards and three touchdowns through the air. He had nine carries for 64 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Hooker brings a dynamic element to the offense that Milton seemed to lack. It’s unfortunate the Michigan transfer ended up injured, but his replacement just looks like the more exciting option.

In the first two games, Milton completed just 51.4 percent of his passes while throwing for one touchdown.

Milton was injured during the Pitt game and Hooker threw two touchdowns and an interception in the 41-34 loss.

The game against Tennessee Tech was an opportunity for the backup to prove he can lead from the start. He passed with flying colors.

Much stiffer competition will come down the line to test Hooker. For now, the Volunteers should take heart because he looks like the guy.
