Max Johnson had a strong performance for the LSU Tigers during Saturday’s game against the Central Michigan Chippewas.
The LSU Tigers experienced tremendous success with Joe Burrow starting under center. The quarterback won the Heisman, broke records and led the Tigers to a National Championship in his final year. While not comparable to Burrow, Max Johnson has logged an impressive streak of games following Saturday.
LSU defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas 49-21 after Johnson completed 26-of-35 pass attempts for 375 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. With that, he has had a solid stretch of five games.

Max Johnson’s strong streak of games continues after win over Central Michigan
The streak of games mentioned by the SEC Network’s Twitter account began in a 37-34 win over the Florida Gators last season. The other games were against Ole Miss, UCLA and McNeese. While these are some good showings by Johnson, they are not at Burrow-levels.
With his production against Central Michigan, Johnson now joins Burrow and Zach Mettenberger as the only quarterbacks in LSU history to throw for five touchdowns in a single regular-season game. Burrow, however, accomplished this feat four times. Those all came in Burrow’s final regular-season with the Tigers, and that is not counting his seven touchdown performance against Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl and his five passing touchdowns in the National Championship against Clemson.
Max Johnson is the third quarterback in LSU history to throw five touchdowns in a single game. He joined Zach Mettenberger and Joe Burrow, who did it four times.

Again this is not discounting the games by Johnson, who threw four touchdowns in the first half of the Central Michigan game. Through three games this season, Johnson has thrown for 863 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 64.8-percent of his passes. Now, the Tigers have won two straight since the team lost the season opener against the UCLA Bruins.
Johnson will look to extend his impressive streak of games next week when the Tigers take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
