Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan football team has no issues throwing the ball downfield anymore.

After being criticized for having an offense that is way too ground-centric, Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh responded with a great play design that saw quarterback Cade McNamara connect with wide receiver Cornelius Johnson 87 yards to pay dirt vs. Northern Illinois in the Big House.

Michigan is the No. 25 team in the country, and through the Wolverines’ first two games of the season, they have looked fantastic. No doubt about it, the offense has been there, but even Harbaugh had to poke fun at his team’s run-first approach at a hilarious pre-game press conference where he referenced General Patton and Neil Armstrong. It was by air on Saturday.

Here is Michigan’s official Twitter account having way too much fun celebrating this touchdown.

Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan football team will throw the football downfield now

While we will have to wait and see how the Wolverines fare in Big Ten play, they have looked like a completely different team from a year ago thus far. Though Michigan should enter conference play at 3-0, it remains to be seen where they will stack up in the divisional hierarchy.

For now, we must thoroughly appreciate the Michigan offense for finally showing some signs of life in the passing game and still dominating on the ground.
