While injuries plagued a few starting quarterbacks around the league on Sunday, there were three starters in particular that performed less than average.

After the first slate of games drew to a close on Sunday afternoon, there were a number of starting quarterbacks that suffered injuries. Tua Tagovailoa, Andy Dalton, Tyrod Taylor and Carson Wentz were all hit by injuries that caused them to be out of the game.

It’s been an injury-plagued Week 2, but there were three starting quarterbacks in particular that stood out with lackluster performances as their teams suffered losses. The list includes New Orleans Saints gunslinger Jameis Winston, who threw for five touchdowns in Week 1’s 38-3 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

These 3 quarterbacks could benefit from the bench for awhile

3. Trevor Lawrence

The Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback and No. 1 pick lost for only the second time in his regular-season career on Sunday to the Denver Broncos, 23-13. It’s only Week 2 and Lawrence is growing accustomed to lining up across from defenses around the NFL, so it may be too early to hit the panic button.

After Lawrence completed 14-of-33 passes for 118 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against Denver. It might be worth experimenting by throwing backup veteran C.J. Beathard into the mix. In Week 1’s 37-21 loss to the Houston Texans, Trevor went 28-of-51 with an impressive 332 yards and three touchdowns. But, he also tossed three interceptions and missed open receivers more than once.

Of course, there’s been talk swarming Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer’s ability to coach at the professional level, so perhaps Lawrence is struggling under the direction of Meyer’s leadership. Although there were high expectations that Jacksonville would be much-improved entering the season, the Jaguars definitely weren’t expected to be one of the top teams in the league.

Beathard might not be a viable answer, but there is a guy named Cam Newton who is patiently waiting to be signed. His veteran presence would also be extremely valuable to Lawrence.
